Paralysis Time moves, yet we often cannot. Paralysis is the dissonance between the passage of time and the stillness of the self. I explore paralysis not just as a physical or emotional state, but as the feeling of being out of sync with the world's momentum, staying still as the world moves. The figures, lights, and natural elements are not frozen, but caught in-between: between action and inaction, before and after, past and present. Each photograph captures a moment of tension and restraint, as well as the moments when we dare to break free. I struggle to take action and this portfolio is my cure to my paralysis. With the constant, ceaseless thoughts of college and my future I tend to hide and stop instead of fight back. I run away from the work and flee from the confrontation. This portfolio is my invitation to the viewer to confront their own experiences of paralysis by taking action myself. What binds you, and when the moment comes, will you dare to break free?
